Inclination to improve Gorge a big success
Dec 16, 2009
ENTRY to Launceston's Cataract Gorge will be easier, after the official opening of a mechanical inclinator yesterday. The inclinator has been installed by the Launceston City Council in a bid to make access to the Gorge possible for anyone. The inclinator consists of a glass-lined compartment, similar to a cable car, and rests on twin rails set into the ground. The inclinator compartment is capable of carrying up to eight people and has wheelchair access.
Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten said the inclinator was part of a range of improvement projects recently carried out by the council at the Gorge. Those projects included the construction of a new viewing platform, the redevelopment of the main car park, and the creation of the "Trail of the Tasmanian Tiger" self-guided walks. The inclinator makes four stops on its way down the hill into the Gorge, providing easy access to walking trails, the Basin Cafe, the Basin Cottage and toilet facilities.
"This is a fantastic project which will improve the experience locals and visitors have at the Cataract Gorge," Alderman van Zetten said. The Federal Government contributed $1.35 million towards the project, the State Government $150,000 and the council $810,000.
P. R. King & Sons VIII rowing team win Leichhardt Rowing Club Corporate Challenge 2008
Sep, 2008
This firm of engineers and machinery merchants with a proud history are but rookies on the corporate rowing circuit, only able to assemble a complete novice crew -with the exception of an experienced coxswain, Charles Done. Along with the assiduous super-coaches Angela & Rex, this triumvirate has guided the preparation of the "Pride of P. R. King" stroke by meticulous stroke. Each individual has honed his skills ahead of race-day adopting differing approaches. Gav Carroll has been reading ancient sculling technique books from the annals of the NSW Library, motivational lecturer James Keeler espouses the virtues of visualisation techniques, Oliver King believes his squat jumps give him the quads to ensure victory, Andrew Bennet is a timing specialist, Will Main is a stickler for technique, 'Power' Paul Hayward isn't satisfied until the boat produces a wake, Louis Molines believes in arm speed alone, whilst Mick Vitaz has been holding his soldering machine with a fixed inner hand and rotating outer hand!

Crago Flour Mill Project
Apr, 2008
Transforming the 19th century Crago Flour Mill in Sydney’s Newtown into 21st century creative studios, the designers aimed to provide the latest services and facilities in a way which would combine with remnants of the buildings past and be sympathetic to the heritage surroundings.
P.R. King & Sons was contracted to resolve the disabled access issues for the project, which they did by supplying a lift with proven reliability, high quality finish and supported with a one year warranty.
P.R King & Sons supplied and installed the Garaventa Xpress II inclined platform lift in two separate locations with straight flights of stairs.
